New England is the name used to
describe the northeastern United States and is made up
of the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont,
Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. (This
gallery also includes images of the Adirondack Mountains
in New York.) New England's geography includes sandy
beaches, rugged Atlantic Ocean coastline, rolling hills
and mountains, and numerous bogs, ponds, and lakes. New
England was carved by retreating glaciers at the end of
the last ice age. New England is also home to some of
the most dramatic fall color in North America. |
